How to TWLV

On 19, Dec 2011 | No Comments | In Home, news / blog | By Richard

Here’s a lovely piece we’ve been working on, a little introductory film for the new online game TWLV. Layla Atkinson and the amazingly talented Sebastian Baptista co-directed. It was created using a mix of 3D and classic hand drawn on paper techniques to get the “boiling” effect, a classic look and feel with a twist. We had a blast making this, we worked directly with the guys at TWLV to create the concept and script and got to work with actress Rachael Stirling who narrates the piece. The sound design was by the guys at Fonic.

Old-Skool-Pencil-Jockey

On 29, Nov 2011 | No Comments | In news / blog | By Layla

twlvI’ve got a GREAT new job to show you but it’s under wraps for the moment so all I can show you is some of the old-school animation we produced for it. It was a pleasure to use a pencil again  but lordy, i’d forgotten about the neck-ache issues that come from sitting hunched over a light box for hours on end. however, looking at the final result I think it was worth the possible spinal damage. I post the finished thing as soon as I can.

Meet Richard Gash

On 16, Nov 2011 | No Comments | In Home, news / blog | By Layla

richard gash

This charming young man is Richard Gash. He’s one of the many people conjured up from the damaged, Lidl-obsessed mind of Jock Mooney. If you want to see a Richard in real life and maybe buy a print head over to the Artistic.ly launch on Thursday 17th of November at the Loading Bay Gallery, Brick Lane.  The artistic.ly show will have hand numbered and framed prints available from Jock and many others including Andrew Rae.

Suie Paparude

On 01, Nov 2011 | No Comments | In Home, news / blog | By Richard

Here’s the latest video from our directors weareom. It’s for the Romanan band Suie Paparude for their track “Moartea Boxelor”. Moving through a landscape full of shadows and harsh contrasts filmed at oblique angles the film combines these classic film noir effects with new film making techniques. Here’s weareom’s Anton’s explanation of the new techniques they used in this atmospheric promo “(we used)….ink running experiments and other dark liquid shots that were composited into each respective shot. We also used some old speakers to create a kind of 3d graphic equaliser with the ‘coffee’ that appears in her cup in the second part of the video. Ironically, the title of this track can be translated to “Death to the Speakers” – which is funny because 5 speakers were actually burnt out and destroyed during these experiments.”
