We rounded off last year by once again working with our Belgian friends Thijs and Wouter from Volstok. We animated their latest commercial for Weightwatchers Belgium. Layla led the animation team of Martin Oliver, Jon Clarke, Nick Brooks and Leslie Dart. We hope this proves to be inspiration to chubby Belgians everywhere!

Cummins comeback

We were very happy to have just completed our most recent collaboration with Cummins, designers and manufacturers of sustainable and greener power generation equipment.
Trunk’s Layla Atkinson was responsible for illustrating the wallpapers for the company’s stand at the Busworld Show 2013 and also directing the animation intro for the new website!

If anyone’s in London on the 2nd of November and feels like soaking up the wisdom of a great animation guru why not pop along the our producer Richard’s panel discussion at this year’s London International Animation Festival. The talk in entitled “How to Become a Ten Year Old” and it’s about how on earth a small animation company like Trunk (and Lupus and Munky) can survive the swirling maelstrom of chaos that is the animation industry for ten years. University College Hospital

Our friends at Peepshow have been very busy recently on this fabulous project. Working with Studio EMMI they’ve transformed the corridors of the children and young adults wards at University College Hospital in London. The nine-month project funded by UCLH Charity – run by Creative Directors Chrissie Macdonald and Emmi Salonen – has transformed clinical white walls with vibrant graphics and engaging images that provide a more welcoming environment.
While allowing the busy wards to continue functioning efficiently, the new design creates an uplifting space that aids recovery. ‘Play in hospitals can speed up the healing process; it makes the hospital feel familiar,’ says Maddalena Branduardi, Health Play specialist at University College Hospital.
She believes the changes will help with treatment. ‘Before, it was all grey and white, very clinical – an adult environment, not a child-focused one. Now it’s the most amazing playspace I’ve ever worked in. And play is the language of children, that’s how children communicate. That’s how they’ll talk to us, and they’ll start to trust us, so then we can talk them through the procedures.’
The Moaning of Life

Time for a small toot on our trumpet. If you’re around this weekend and have Sky TV you should check out Karl Pilkington’s new series “The Moaning Of Life” this Sunday at 9pm on Sky1. We worked with our director Jock Mooney to design the titles and all the on-screen graphics. The graphics are pretty minimal but we’ve seen loads of clips from the show and it seems to be really funny, we love a bit of Karl Pilkington.
Tom Fun Orchestra | Earthworm Heart

It’s time for some more Alasdair+Jock magic. It’s “Earthworm Heart” their latest collaboration with The Tom Fun Orchestra. The idea for the short came from Hoffmann’s Struwwelpeter, The Story Of The Wild Huntsman. Alasdair explains, “rather than the traditional reversal of fortunes story we wanted to create a narrative that was more complex and less clear cut as to who was the hero or villain.”
