What Light(extract)

On 19, Aug 2009 | No Comments | In news / blog | By Richard

As promised, here is an extract from our friend Sarah Wickens’s graduation film "What Light". The animation is created by using sunlight, mirrors, cut out frames and a digital stills camera. Email Richard if you’d like to see the whole film.

Bright Flight

On 17, Aug 2009 | No Comments | In news / blog | By Layla

Here’s an animation test made by Trunk’s good friend Sarah Wickens and Seong Lee who both graduated from the Royal College of Art this year.  It’s a test piece so you’ll see a bit of animatic floating about here and there but it  looks great. The animation is created in situ using mirrors to reflect sunlight through stencils of individual frames of animation onto surfaces, as the sun moves, the frames move. Sounds complicated and is but looks great. Sarah’s graduation film is animated in much the same way we’ll show you a bit of it later on this week…

THE MOON

On 07, Aug 2009 | No Comments | In news / blog | By Richard

Friend and artist Ben Turner took this beautiful shot the other night when the moon was unbelievably bright. Interestingly, on the 11th, 12th and 13th of August the Perseid Meteor Shower will be at its peak. Every year in August, the earth passes through dust and rock fragments left behind by the comet Swift-Tuttle last time it passed near the sun. As these particles collide with the earth they burn up, often causing a startling streak of light across the sky.

RUMPLE

On 05, Aug 2009 | No Comments | In news / blog | By Richard

The studio is collectively cooing and losing concentration over the addition of our latest recruit – Rumple! She is Layla’s brand new doggy, a beautiful black Staffordshire, and she is settling in very well. I would love to say she is guarding the studio from intruders, but at the moment she is fast asleep in the middle of the floor!
